BBC Review
You & I has a great chorus, funky bass and gospel backing vocals.
All Music
You & I... is a gorgeous piano-led ballad featuring a gospel choir and a storming chorus that manages to be uplifting and heartbreaking at the same time.

This double-A-side from Pop Idol Will Young is ostensibly released with the BBC's Children In Need appeal in mind - an added incentive for Will's legions of admirers to rush out and propel this to the top of the chart.
You & I is one of the highlights of Will's album, a laid-back, woozy track which would nevertheless have benefited from an older set of vocal chords to offer it the depth he so clearly wants to give it. But fans will still lap it up, of course.Don't Let Me Down, meanwhile, is a new track that doesn't appear on the album. It takes Will closer than ever to setting up residence in Radio 2 territory. One for charitable donors and Pop Idol completists, then.

Here's this year's Children In Need single, and it's by the perfect person to sing it - Will Young. His fourth single this year is finally not a cover, and in my opinion, it's the best of the lot. "You And I" is a really good ballad that the likes of Nat King Cole and Frank Sinatra would be proud to sing - a brilliant slow song that turns into an excellent finish with Will's great ad libs. "Don't Let Me Down" is just as good, and is more of a poppy tune that suits Children In Need.

This year's official Children In Need song, "Don't Let Me Down", is the first original and self-penned song from Will. It might not grab you at first, but Will's supreme silky vocals and impressive lyrics make this a fitting and memorable song for the cause. "You And I" is taken from the album "From Now On", and although Will's talents shine through here again, this song is more forgettable than "Don't Let Me Down". Given that it's for Children In Need, and that it is the nation's Pop Idol, expect this to be a fourth No. 1.
