Will Young has been churning out amazing singles with amazing videos with slightly alarming regularity recently. But the thing that is both Will’s blessing and his curse is that he really is basically the only successful solo male in pop. He’s sort of the new Justin Timberlake in that respect, except at least during ‘the time of Justin Timberlake’ – and a damn good time it was too readers – you’d get the occasional Robbie Williams album or record labels would try invest in one of ‘The Men’. (You could make an argument for Hurts at the moment I suppose but they are actuallytwo men and also despite their gigantic budgets they aren’t actually all that successful apart from in certain random countries in Europe but anyway mentioning them sort of misses the point which I will now shut up and get to.)
The point is that when Will releases anything, be it a single, an album or a video, he is basically carrying pop on behalf of ‘The Men’. It has to be brilliant, because otherwise it’s all “Oh what has it come to?” “Where are all the men in pop music?” “Bring back the 80s even though i’m 15 years old”. Basically readers, Will Young’s music has to be so good (and so present) that people don’t notice that the rest of ‘The Men’ aren’t fucking doing anything. If his music and everything that goes along with it isn’t completely heroic then society will come crashing down on male fronted pop music.
Will Young is that little dutch boy with his finger in the leaking dam, hoping and praying that someone comes to rectify the situation before everyone realises that it’s completely impractical.
Anyway, last night Will whacked this video online for his new single Losing Myself.

10 years ago, a young man called Will Young went on to win the first edition of Idols, making it a inspiring talent show which would continue to dominate the UK and the rest of the world in different formats.
It’s unbelievable to see how Will Young got rid off the Idols label and went from a talent show winner to a credible artist without falling into the forgotten debts and have an impressive career to look back on.
And what a career it is. His latest album ‘Echoes’ was released on August 19th and went to number 1 August 29th to hang on to it for quite some time. It is a brilliant masterpiece, consisting of ambient, low, mature electropop produced by Richard X, a well known producer in the danceworld.
After the success of ‘Jealousy’ and the slightly underrated ‘Come On’ Will Young now releases ‘Losing Myself’ as the 3rd cut.
Again, Will Young proves to be a class act. His chilled vocals are part of the reason why this sounds so beautiful and classy. The song, carried out in a loungy mood with spacious synthesizer sounds, is drenched within emotions, suiting the overall production incredibly well. Not to mention the video! Will has definately raised his video profile. The acting career he’s been having over the years has done him much favour, putting lots of depth in performing the song. The dancing is stylish, we just love the full concept.

Will Young is really having his finest moment ever, isn’t he?
Between the premiere of “Jealousy” (one of my favorite songs of 2011), the heartbreaking Trapeze-inspired video, and the adorkable, Best In Show realness-serving clip for “Come On”, Young’s delivered nothing but pure quality from Echoes.
Now comes the video “Losing Myself,” the latest disco-tinged track off of his sensational 2011 record.
Watch below as the Pop Idol alum goes through the motions of a typical day at work and sees double, triple–no quintuple–along the way. Think incredible synchronized choreography, mirror play, and some rather handsome boys…sounds like a good time, right? It most certainly is.
Either Will’s suffering from a little bit of split personality disorder or just a much-needed visit to the optometrist. You decide.
But seriously-this entire campaign has been completely free of flaw. Bravo, Will!

Will Young releases his brand new single ‘Losing Myself’ on March 19th 2011 through XIX Entertainment/RCA Label Group.
Another huge slice of sophisticated modern pop, ‘Losing Myself’ is the third single to be taken from Will’s phenomenally successful new album ‘Echoes’ which went straight in the album chart at Number One and has sold an incredible 400,000 copies so far.
2011 was a fantastic year for Will. Besides the success of ‘Echoes’, the first single from the album ‘Jealousy’ was a top five chart and airplay smash, his most successful single in recent years. Grazia called it ‘the best song of the year’.
Will has also hosted his own ITV Saturday Night Special which drew over 5 million viewers, and he delivered a fantastic live performance on the Jonathan Ross Show.
‘Losing Myself’ comes with a radio edit of the album version by the Hacienda/Factory Records legend Mike Pickering and a remix by Bimbo Jones.
Firming cementing his reputation as one of the foremost video artists of his generation Will has produced stunning promos for ‘Jealousy’ and ‘Come On’, and the clip for ‘Losing Myself’ promises similar thrills, directed by Henry Scholfield (Professor Green and Example).
Coming on the 10th anniversary of Will’s first audition for Pop Idol in 2001, ‘Echoes’ is his fifth studio album in a career spawning over 8.5 million sales so far.
March 2012 sees the 10th anniversary of his debut Number One Single ‘Evergreen’. Produced by Richard X (MIA, Kelis, Goldfrapp,) and with all tracks bar one written by Will, ‘Echoes’ has garnered great reactions from fans and media alike with Sunday Times saying ‘it’s an ace album’, The Guardian calling it ‘classy’ and Attitude pronouncing ‘his vocal delivery never fails to weaken knees’.
