(Film - 2005) The lights may have gone out all over Europe for the second time, but there’s a gleam in Mrs Henderson’s eye. She does her bit to raise morale by buying a London theatre and turning it into the world-famous Windmill, complete with its nude review.

The supporting cast are excellent ... and the very talented Will Young in his film debut as Bertie the show's ingenue. Will's singing, particularly of "All The Things You Are" is outstanding and exactly captures the style which not many young pop singers around today would be able to do.

Bob Hoskins
One of the funny things was Will Young ... I didn't know who he was ... I said, 'Well, I like this kid. He's a good actor, very good actor.' And then he started to sing. I said, 'Here's a bonus, he can sing.'

I expected Judi Dench and Bob Hoskins to be good, and of course they are. They spark off each other fantastically. What I wasn’t expecting, though, was that Will Young (yes, *that* Will Young) is pretty impressive too! He does a lot of singing, naturally, but generally he seems a pretty good all-rounder…

Director Stephen Frears ("High Fidelity," "Dangerous Liaisons") generally runs a well-oiled machine here, with Bob Hoskins delivering good work and even the pop-star-turned-actor Will Young doing better than expected as Van Damm's assistant.
